After raising $3 million in new funding, Inventables will be expanding into a new facility and hiring more engineers onto their team. These expansions will further develop the passionate community surrounding their vision and allow them to introduce new products that meet their customers’ needs.
Inventables turns desks into personal factories of the future for less than the price of many laptops with its Shapeoko milling machine. Inventables calls itself the “Hardware Store for Designers.” We invested in the Chicago-based company in July of 2012, fascinated by products like the Shapeoko. After initial assembly of the machine, users can cut and shape wood and soft metals for practically any product design, allowing those not overly skilled in handcrafting to bring their ideas to life with no frustrations. ”It’s the fastest-selling machine in the history of the world in about eight months,” said Inventables CEO Zach Kaplan. “Right here in Chicago.”
